Kino has used a non-compliant version of W3C SMIL 2.0 for a few years now. However, in CVS and with the next release, I have fixed compliance. The only remaining trouble spot with respect to compliance is the customisable metadata feature of Kino. Most users are not aware of this feature, but they can read more about it in the tagesschau.de post. Inevitably, this will create interoperability issues with tools designed to interop with Kino due to the change. I have taken care of the builtin dvdauthor XML, and next I will take care of smilutils and MLT. I believe transcode and kdenlive are potentially impacted, and I must investigate. I hope to supply patches. If you know of any other tool that is impacted, let me know. |
