New Kino Plugins
Sunday, 01 January 2006

Ruslan Popov has made some Kino plugins for adjusting the video levels. His older one is for brightness and contrast. The new one is for hue, saturation and value. KinoPlus has a gamma filter; we should consolidate them. However, I am reluctant to adopt KinoPlus. It has some very advanced filters that are simply too painful to support, and some filters that are redundant and not as good as some that already exist. Not to mention the work to remove the libgnomeui widgets. Furthermore, the architecture for doing "previews" in the Kino plugin is wrong because it introduces a third video area, and I do not want to adopt and support that UI.

We certainly need an audio level plugin as well, but it just seems wrong to include that as an FX filter, but something is better than nothing. I will throw an Audio Filter/Volume into 0.8.1.
